Character Playlists.

Throughout writing the Ever Afters, Shelby Bach created playlists for every chapter, using re-occurring songs for specific Characters.

Fey Fudge.

As you may know, especially if you’ve read OF WITCHES & WIND, Fey fudge is a delicious substance–Rory and Chase both love this dessert, and Lena finds it irresistible.

Lady Ayalla Aspenwind, a noblewoman in the Unseelie Court (and important to The Ever Afters for Spoiler-y reasons), once came to Ever After School to impart her Fey Fudge knowledge. If you’re interested in learning about the history of Fey fudge, as told by Lady Aspenwind herself, you might visit this page.

If you’re interested in downloading the original Fey fudge recipe, click here. (Disclaimer: it’s very difficult to recreate the original Fey recipe if you don’t use magic.)

Luckily for humans everywhere, Ellie and Gretel–both Characters in Ever After School’s Canon–happen to adapt that recipe for human use. If you’re curious about how their initial cooking session with Lady Aspenwind, click here to read Sarah Thumb’s report about it.

The human recipes for Fey fudge:

  • You can download Ellie’s Fey Fudge recipe here. (It uses the microwave.)

  • You can download Gretel’s Fey Fudge recipe here. (It uses the stovetop.)

  • You can find both Fey Fudge recipes here. (This version prints both on the same page.)

EAS Orientation Letters.

Every young Character receives an orientation letter from the Ever After School’s Director when they arrive at EAS. In Of Giants and Ice, we get to read Rory’s, but what about the ones for the other two members of the newest Triumvirate?

On the writing craft behind The Ever Afters.

Now that the books have been out for a while, I’ve started to talk more deeply about the writing craft that went into writing this series. These posts are FULL of spoilers, so keep that in mind as you explore.

In case you have every wondered how I developed Lena’s subplot, I explain this in great detail in People Are Stories-in-Progress.

This is an exploration on how to craft character and how to navigate life.

In case you were similarly curious about Chase's subplot, you might check out this post on “value systems,” a term in the Shelbish Glossary.

Madame Benne.

Member of the First Triumvirate and ancestor to Lena MaMarelle (a member of the youngest Triumvirate).

A page from Madame Benne’s spell book was found beside the lake at Ever After School, and Rumpelstiltskin preserved it in the library. If you would like to take a peek, click here.

If you’re interested in reading a bit of Madame Benne’s biographyMadame Benne: Genius Inventor and Fey Traitor?, which Lena reads in Of Giants and Ice, you can click here to see an excerpt from “Chapter 13: Her Legacy.”

Spoiler Boards.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you may have a special place in your heart for the Spoiler Boards.

Well, I completely re-did my old website to make this one, and the only thing I kept from the old website was…the Spoiler Boards. I figured I wasn’t the only one having a hard time letting it go.Links are below.

(The formatting will look dated, because…it’s old school, sweet ones. In internet years, it’s as old as Iron Hans.)

Author Videos

Back in 2016, we created some videos to celebrate the paperback release for OF ENEMIES & ENDINGS.

Here’s a playlist of all six of them.
